I had been dating someone for a long time who was an accountant turned shopping center developer. He had described bigger deals as only a matter of moving the decimal point. As a visual person, instantly I envision things in the physical form and this piece was conceived. Also since there is such reverence for winning and getting that coveted point in all games, not just the financial world, it seemed a subject worthy of a sculpture.
You can move the little sculpture any where you want. And depending on which side of the table you sit, the amount goes up or down. I have another version of this work (not shown) in which the little graphite point or small ball has a little crown anointing it the Royal Point. (Early drawing for “Point”)
