ON PAINTING    

“Before I became aware of my mind in a self conscious way, I worked from a place of instinct where things happened naturally.  After years of learning, working and mastering mediums; not new is the necessity to unlearn.  After a masters degree, an artist needs a temporary lobotomy.

Of course some artists work singularly from the mind.  But for me, my favorite works come from that place of spontaneity like being a kid again.  Thinking too much and good pure painting somehow do not go together.  The mind will happen like breathing but should never be the primary platform.  In painting, impulse rules as a kind of supreme genius!”
