In the early 1980’s I was a young artist in search of my own style and interests. For a few years I shifted drawing and painting on canvas to painting and drawing objects. It seemed as a painter you were often painting images of objects or painting things. So I took the most direct approach to literally paint objects by literally painting them (their surface).
In the period of painting things, I had done a series of painted Polaroid's, a self portrait painting on myself etc. This notion had led to the portrait of Andy Warhol (Image 11.) by painting a Campbell's soup can.
